Patrick H. Johnson is a phenomenal artist. We first met when he was mounting a show of his portraits. The portraits were unlike anything I had seen in how they depicted the essence of the subjects. I had to talk to the artist who had painted the portraits and our creative conversation began. It was my great joy to see him before he began the mural, “The Elixir” and then to see the finished mural near the SW corner of Crenshaw Blvd. & Stocker Avenue in Leimert Park. I ran into Patrick today and we celebrated the completion of the mural and he told me about this interview. The interview is good and there is an event scheduled to honor the mural this weekend.

“Pilgrimage to Elixir,” is taking place this Saturday, January 21, 2012. People will meet in the Starbucks parking lot at Crenshaw Blvd. & Coliseum (3722 Crenshaw Blvd.) Los Angeles at 3:30 PM and Pilgrimage to bless the mural, “The Elixir.” Big fun for sure: creative folks, snacks, spoken word.
